A baby presenting with possible reflux is a common presentation in many healthcare settings, and according to Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Dr Rupert Hinds, it is a condition that healthcare professionals can often manage effectively without the need for referral. In this presentation, Dr Hinds will detail what is involved in a practical, comprehensive assessment of these babies, including the red flag symptoms and signs that should not be missed. He will also outline, importantly, the most appropriate management of infantile reflux in both breast-fed and formula-fed babies. Finally, Dr Hinds provides a suggested approach to considering allergies as a potential cause of the symptoms and how best to manage them.
