Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.
The upcoming Healthed webcast features presentations from these leading experts
Featuring the latest clinical information and updates on areas relevant to your practice
The local GP is, more often than not, the first port of call for parents concerned that their child is unduly anxious. In this very practical talk, Dr Andrew Leech, a GP with a special interest in paediatric mental health, will provide an update and an upskilling on the fundamentals of assessing paediatric anxiety. He will give an insight into the range of ways anxiety can present in children, the various triggers and how to differentiate between physiological and pathological anxiety. Importantly, he will also suggest simple strategies that can be tried as first-line therapy for the anxious child and their concerned parents.
Which questionnaire is best to screen for sleep apnoea? How accurate is it likely to be? Which patients need referral to a sleep physician and which patients can be managed by their GP? Which sleep study is best? And what are the options for getting the patient fitted with a mask and appropriate CPAP air pressures? These are the very practical issues associated with OSA testing and management that Professor Brendon Yee will address in this talk that will help streamline the diagnosis and treatment of this very prevalent condition.
Musculoskeletal health is often very affected by the fall in oestrogen associated with menopause, but is an area of women's health that is commonly overlooked. In this talk, Dr Sonia Davison discusses the implications of menopause on, not only bones, but also muscles and joints. She will give an overview of the physiology, the prevalence, and the range of severity of menopausal musculoskeletal symptoms and give practical advice on how they can be prevented and managed.
Social media issues are one of the fastest growing areas of complaint for GPs at AHPRA. So says lawyer and former AHPRA investigator David Gardner, who,in this talk will outline the major risks for healthcare practitioners who engage with social media, even in a non-professional capacity. Apparently the reality is, anything posted online should be considered permanent and public, and needs to uphold a standard of conduct that is consistent with professional standards - even if it is discussing de-identified patients or personal opinions. A truly enlightening and slightly frightening presentation.
