A/Prof. Michelle Rodrigues is an Australian dermatologist based in Melbourne. After completing her six-year medical degree (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) with honours at Monash University in Melbourne, A/Prof. Rodrigues completed her internship and medical residency at Southern Health (Monash Medical Centre). She then gained admission into the dermatology training program where she worked in various tertiary referral hospitals around Melbourne over four years including a six month placement at the National Skin Centre in Singapore.

Upon completion of her dermatology training, A/Prof. Rodrigues was awarded the Founders Medal by the Australasian College of Dermatologists for attaining the highest aggregate marks in the national specialist examinations in procedural dermatology. She was also awarded an international scholarship from the American Academy of Dermatology for this academic achievement.

A/Prof. Rodrigues’ passion for pigment disorders, laser and dermatology in skin of colour has taken her to centres of excellence around the world including The Skin of Colour Centre in New York, UT Southwestern Medical Centre in Dallas, The National Skin Centre in Singapore, PGIMER in Chandighar, India and Ghent University, Belgium. Here, A/Prof. Rodrigues worked for lengthy periods alongside world-renowned pigment and skin of colour experts, produced medical publications and textbook chapters.

A/Prof. Rodrigues serves in private (Laser Dermatology and Peninsula Dermatology) and public healthcare sectors in Melbourne. She holds esteemed consultant positions at St. Vincent’s and the Royal Children’s Hospitals and is co-founder of Australia’s first multi-disciplinary Vitiligo clinic. In addition to her special interests, she manages those with skin cancer, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), acne, rosacea, birthmarks and other general skin, hair and nail problems.
