Dr Robert Anderson

Dr Robert Anderson is President of the International Society for the Study of Coeliac Disease. He is a gastroenterologist specialising in coeliac disease and immune mediated gut disorders. His contributions to understanding and advancing the clinical management of coeliac disease have included identification of the gluten peptides responsible for gluten immunity and coeliac disease, characterising the immune mechanisms led by T cells that drive symptoms caused by gluten, and leading the design and development of a new generation of immune therapies and diagnostics for coeliac disease that target the causative gluten-specific T cells. These contributions have been recognised with international research awards. Bob has worked in clinical, academic and commercial settings internationally. He is co founder and Director of Novoviah Pharmaceuticals and JM Clinical, leading diagnostic and therapeutic trials in Brisbane, and serves as gastroenterologist at Mackay Base Hospital.
