Expert panel – Prof Rod Baber AM, Conjoint Prof John Eden, Dr Marita Long, facilitated by Dr Jane Elliott AM

Prof Baber AM is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The University of Sydney. Prof Baber is a life member and Past President of both the Australasian menopause Society and the International Menopause Society. He was editor in chief of Climacteric from 2016-2024 and chair of the scientific programme committee for the 2024 World Congress on Menopause held in Melbourne. His awards include the RANZCOG Distinguished service medal, The IMS Lifetime Achievement and Distinguished Service awards and Membership of The Order of Australia for service to Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Dr John Eden is a reproductive endocrinologist and gynaecologist. He is a Conjoint Professor in the Department of Women and Children’s Health, Royal Hospital for Women (University of New South Wales). He is a visiting medical officer at the Royal Hospital for Women, Sydney, where he is Head of the Menopause Unit. John is a Director of the Women’s Health and Research Institute of Australia (WHRIA). He is a member of the Breast Cancer MDT at Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick. John is on the executive committee and co-chair of the NSW Health (ACI) Menopause Hub project. His research and clinical interests include managing menopause after breast cancer, early menopause, hormones and mood disorders, PMDD, menopausal hormonal therapy as well as herbal medicine. He has also written over 150 scientific publications.

Dr Marita Long is a Victorian based GP working across clinical practice, medical education and research. She has a strong interest in women’s health and cognitive health. She is a current committee member for the Australian Society of Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a member of the WIGP RACGP committee and is the President-Elect of the Australasian Menopause Society. Marita is actively engaged in various projects related to dementia, and is the first GP appointed as an Honorary Medical Advisor for Dementia Australia and a Clinical Assoc Professor for Wicking Dementia Education and Research Centre.

Dr Jane Elliott AM has been a general practitioner in Adelaide for many years, with a special career interest in women’s health, including menopause and premature menopause. She is a clinical senior lecturer in the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Adelaide University and teaches medical students, GPs and RANZCOG trainees. She has been an investigator in clinical research trials in many areas of women’s health including menopause, contraception, osteoporosis, and low libido. Jane is a Past President of the Australasian Menopause Society and is a member of Healthy Bones Australia National Consumer and Community Advisory Committee.
