Biography

Dr Terri Foran Dr Terri Foran is a Sexual Health Physician and has a special interest in contraception, menopause issues and the management of sexually transmitted infections. She was previously the Medical Director of Family Planning NSW and is now in clinical practice in Darlinghurst. She is also engaged in both clinical and research work at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney. Dr Foran holds the position of Lecturer at the University of New South Wales in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health. She coordinates Phase 2 of their undergraduate Women’s Health program as well as supervising a number of modules in the Masters of Reproductive Medicine and Masters of Women’s Health Medicine Programs offered by UNSW. A/P Deborah Bateson has worked as a clinician, educator, researcher and advocate in sexual and reproductive health for 20 years. She is Medical Director of Family Planning NSW, Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney and Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Social Research in Health at UNSW. Deborah has previously served as the Global Medical Director for Marie Stopes International and is a past Chair of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance. Her work focuses on equitable access to contraception and abortion care, cervical cancer screening and STI prevention and treatment. Prof Rod Baber Prof Rod Baber is Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The University of Sydney and Head of the Menopause and Menstrual Disorders clinic at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is the Past President of both The International Menopause Society and The Australasian Menopause Society and Chair of The Medical Advisory Board of Family Planning NSW. Prof Baber is also the Editor in Chief of Climacteric, the journal of The International Menopause Society and Associate Editor of The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 2013, RANZCOG awarded him their Distinguished Service Medal for services to Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 2016 the IMS awarded him their Distinguished Service Award. In 2018 he was awarded membership of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to obstetrics and gynaecology as a clinician and researcher. Dr Elina Safro Dr Elina Safro is a GP with a deep interest in all things women’s health. She works at Family Planning NSW clinics, Marie Stopes clinics, and also covers the on-call roster at RPAH for victims of sexual assault. Lina is highly involved in clinical education of GPs, including overseas-trained doctors. Her clinical interests include menopause and she serves as Chair of Education subcommittee of the board of AMS.
