Further information

Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.

Topics to be covered

Rhinitis and Sinusitis – Tips and Tricks
Dr Celia Zubrinich

Nasal and sinus symptoms are frequent presentations in general practice, but are often poorly described and understood. Taking the history, planning investigations, getting the right diagnosis, deciding treatment options and knowing when and who to refer to, all require some skill. In this webinar, Dr Celia Zubrinich will provide an approach to considering allergic and non-allergic factors, and some real-life practical guidance about explaining the condition and its management to patients.

Heart Failure Management in GP
Prof Andrew Sindone

Affecting over half a million Australians, heart failure is very common. However, it often goes undiagnosed and therefore untreated despite having a worse prognosis than most cancers. Fortunately there are now treatments which can significantly improve survival and reduce hospitalisation. In this talk, Professor Andrew Sindone will present the four classes of medications which, when combined, improve health outcomes for these patients. In addition, he will present the evidence to support the recommendation that all patients with heart failure should be on this combination unless contraindicated.

Sleep Disorders and Weight Management
Prof Brendon Yee

The link between overweight and obesity and obstructive sleep apnoea is well established. It is also known that losing weight can significantly improve the severity of OSA. So where do the newest GLP-1 agonists fit into this equation? Professor Brendon Yee, in his talk, will present the latest evidence and recommendations for the use of GLP-1 agonists in the management of obesity-related OSA - its effectiveness, its limitations and its most appropriate use.

Skin Cancer – Tips and Traps for GPs
A/Prof Robyn Saw

For most GPs, it's the stuff of nightmares! Missing a melanoma. And with one in five of these malignant skin cancers being amelanotic, any opportunity to improve diagnostic and management skills in this area of medicine is welcome. In this presentation, Associate Professor Robyn Saw will provide an update on all things melanoma along with current recommendations for management of other skin cancers including the most appropriate biopsy techniques, traps for the unwary and when to refer.
