Dr Katherine (Kate) Kelly is a Specialist General Practitioner with a special interest in Coeliac Disease.  She works closely with children and adults to provide tailored care, guiding them through what their diagnosis means and long-term management. Dr Kelly is passionate about improving the lives of her patients and offering support that empowers them to live their best lives.

By focusing on early intervention and personalised treatment, Dr Kelly helps her patients better manage their symptoms and prevent the risk of them developing long term complications. Her holistic approach ensures she addresses both the medical and emotional needs of her patients, making a positive impact on their wellbeing.

As someone who has been diagnosed with coeliac disease herself, Dr Kelly is passionate about improving access to good quality health care for coeliac patients. She has a unique lived experience with coeliac disease and the gluten free lifestyle, and is keen to share her medical expertise with the coeliac community.

Dr Kelly’s qualifications include a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) achieved in 2016, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Griffith University in 2011, and a Bachelor of Exercise Science (BExSc) from Griffith University in 2007.

With a strong foundation in primary care, Dr Kelly has built a diverse portfolio of experience across many areas of medicine. After completing her junior doctor years at Logan Hospital (including a rotation in gastroenterology), she honed her clinical skills in general practice registrar roles in Inala and Springwood. As a specialist GP, she has provided comprehensive care to patients in Springwood since 2016. Additionally, she has lent her expertise to the GPs in Schools program, delivering healthcare services to students in Beenleigh. Dr Kelly also continues to work as a surgical assistant in neurosurgery, bringing a unique blend of skill and precision to her work.

Dr Kelly is a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), in addition to being a member of Coeliac Australia. She is also an Individual Member of The International Society for the Study of Celiac Disease (ISSCD). Dr Kelly is also a member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA). She has previously been recognised as a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC-GP) through the Australia and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders. Dr Kelly stays actively engaged in advancing her expertise in her areas of special interest.

Outside of work, Dr Kelly enjoys spending time outdoors with her three young children, exploring nature and making the most of family life.
