Prof Carol Maher

Professor, Medical Research Future Fund Emerging Leader, University of South Australia
I am a Research Professor in the Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA) at the University of South Australia. I’m passionate about understanding how children’s and adults’ daily activity patterns impact their health. In particular, my work explores how system-level approaches using technologies such as wearables, online social networking, smartphone apps and artificial intelligence can be delivered at scale to improve people’s activity patterns and health.

My work is currently supported by an MRFF Investigator Grant (2021-2025), and I’m currently a CI on several NHMRC and MRFF funded projects. In total, I’ve received over $15M in research funding and published 180 papers.
