Webcasts / Healthed Webcast – 27th May 2025
Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.

Tirzepatide Compared to Semaglutide for Treatment of Obesity – Latest Evidence
View profileWinter is almost here and once again we are expecting new strains of flu and other respiratory viruses to cause widespread misery and morbidity. In this talk, infectious diseases expert Professor Paul Griffin will provide an update on which viruses are currently causing disease and which are predicted to pose a threat this winter. He will also discuss the latest recommendations in terms of vaccinations and target populations, as well as advise how best to manage some of the challenges faced by clinicians advocating immunisation.
Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (previously known as vulvovaginal atrophy) affects as many as half of all women post-menopause and, without treatment, can cause significant discomfort, distress and diminished quality of life. In this webcast, Associate Professor Gino Pecoraro will discuss the prevalence and pathophysiology of this condition as well as providing the latest, evidence based recommendations for its treatment. Importantly, he will also be talking about commonly-advertised therapies that have no evidence of effectiveness, and some that have actually been shown not to work.
New research is providing more evidence and understanding about the effectiveness and safety of tirzepatide versus semaglutide. Hear from Associate Professor Samantha Hocking about this latest study and what it means for prescribing clinicians who are using these agents as part of their management of patients with obesity.
Heavy, painful periods should not be considered a normal rite of passage for young women. If periods are interfering with the teenager's life and causing distress, treatment is needed. In this talk, Professor Sonia Grover shares her clinical expertise and real-world experience about the best way to assess and manage adolescent girls who present with heavy and/or painful periods. She will also highlight the importance of recognising and treating these patients early to, not only improve their quality of life at the time but also improve their long-term health outcomes including their long-term fertility.
