Description

In this episode:

  • Move away from a “CPAP-for-all” model; consider mandibular advancement splints (MAS), weight loss, positional therapy, or surgery based on patient context
  • Custom-fitted mandibular splints are effective for mild-moderate obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and generally well tolerated
  • Refer patients to experienced dentists and evidence-based devices via local sleep clinics
  • Significant weight reduction (eg. via GLP-1s) may lessen OSA severity or change device needs
  • New devices enable monitoring of usage and Apnoea-hypopnoea index (AHI), supporting compliance and follow-up care
