Scientia Prof Kaarin Anstey

Psychologist and Dementia Epidemiologist; Director, UNSW Ageing Futures Institute; Senior Principal Research Scientist, NeuRA
Scientia Professor Kaarin Anstey is Director of the UNSW Ageing Futures Institute and Senior Principal Research Scientist at NeuRA. Prof Anstey conducts research in the fields of dementia epidemiology, risk reduction, and cognitive aging.
Prof Anstey developed the CogDrisk which is the only Australian dementia risk assessment tool. She currently leads CogCoach-Health, a trial to evalaute risk reduction in people with mild cognitive disorders.
Prof Anstey is a member of the World Dementia Council, and a member of the World Health Organisation Guideline Development Group for risk reduction. In 2025 she was awarded the NSW Premier’s Award for Excellence in Biological and Medical Science.
