In this episode:

  • Dementia is the leading cause of disability in individuals aged 65 and over
  • Dementia is a chronic disease with 12 established modifiable risk factors that can influence its progression (as of 08/24 now 14 risk factors – elevated LDL and uncorrected visual loss have been added)
  • The 45-49 health check can serve as a valuable opportunity to assess brain health and identify early signs of dementia
  • Early diagnosis enables GPs to implement measures that can improve the patient’s quality of life and facilitate future planning
