In this episode, Neurologist Dr Richard Stark speaks with host GP Dr David Lim to discuss how GPs can distinguish migraine from other primary and secondary headaches, and when to consider investigation or referral:

  • Use the ID Migraine questions to support a positive diagnosis
  • Recognise SNOOP features that may point to a secondary headache
  • Distinguish migraine aura from TIA or seizure by symptom evolution
  • Consider whether migraine coexists with neck-related or post-traumatic headache
  • Identify when cluster headache or medication overuse may warrant referral
