Description

In this episode, Speech Pathologist and Diagnostician Jenna Ward-Hawkes joins host Dr Rebecca Overton to explore the presentation of autism in women and girls. They unpack the subtle clinical clues and hidden cost of coping that standard assessments often miss:

  • Understand why autism in women and girls is often missed
  • Recognise social copying and autistic masking in women
  • Use the 4Cs framework to guide assessment of possible autism
  • Differentiate autism from anxiety, depression, school refusal and other common presentations
  • Discuss autism and referrals sensitively, framing assessment as a pathway to understanding and support
