In this episode:

• Pancreatic cancer accounts for about 3% of all newly diagnosed cancers and yet was the 3rd most common cause of cancer death last year
• Early diagnosis is vital, and we must maintain a high index of suspicion and investigate patients with unintended weight loss, non-specific GI symptoms with a history of smoking, obesity, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, alcohol ingestion with a CT scan
• We need to ensure we enlist appropriate help and support for the patient at the time of discharge
• We cannot assume the patient had been initiated on pancreatic enzyme replacement or that they are taking enough of it
• Despite the poor prognosis, there may be a silver lining to this dark cloud
