There is so much we still don’t know about long covid but we’re going to have to learn fast as more and more patients will be presenting to general practice with the condition.

So suggests Professor Nancy Baxter, a leading clinical epidemiologist on a recent Healthed ‘Going Viral’ podcast.

According to Professor Baxter, it is ‘early days in understanding what is a new disease’ and given what we do know it is likely the GPs will be increasingly asked to assess and manage patients who are experiencing covid symptoms more than four months after the original acute infection, part of the definition of long covid.
