Webcasts / Healthed Webcast – 3rd February 2026
Healthed webcasts are a valuable educational platform, allowing viewers to gain up-to-date clinical knowledge through an easy, time-efficient format. Our free online seminars fill a huge unmet need amongst GPs outside of the major cities for quality, accessible education. Each webcast features four lectures and runs for two hours. While the majority of viewers are GPs, our webcasts are relevant for healthcare professionals including pharmacists and nurses.

Diagnosis and management of Alzheimer's disease have changed dramatically here in Australia with blood-based biomarkers and newly approved disease-modifying medications. Hear Dr. Stephanie Daly discuss these developments and their practical implications for clinicians assessing and managing older patients with cognitive concerns. This talk aims to increase confidence in evaluating cognitive change, ordering and interpreting blood biomarker tests to assist in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, and knowing appropriate referral pathways and therapeutic options. Dr Daly will provide a timely update in the rapidly evolving landscape of Alzheimer's care, optimising outcomes and improving quality of life for older patients.
Early allergen introduction in children, even at-risk children, is important to prevent food allergy. So says paediatric allergist, Dr Gabby Mahoney who, in this talk will provide an outline of the who, what, when and how common food allergens can and should be introduced to infants safely, reducing the risk of developing ongoing IgE mediated food allergies. She will also address some of the challenges associated with allergen introduction such as distinguishing between contact reactions and true food allergies, the role of skin prick testing and even the new commercially available allergen introduction kits.
Falls are a leading cause of injury, hospitalisation and loss of independence in older adults, yet preventable. This session translates current national and international falls prevention guidelines into practical actions for general practice. GPs will learn how to identify fall risk, which interventions are supported by strong evidence, and what does not reduce falls. The focus is on exercise, home modification, medication review and referral pathways, helping GPs move beyond generic advice and deliver targeted, evidence-based falls prevention in routine clinical practice.
Heart failure is a common condition and one which GPs are, increasingly, expected to manage in the primary care setting. In this talk, Professor Andrew Sindone will provide an update on heart failure diagnosis and assessment as recommended in general practice. In addition, Professor Sindone will outline the most appropriate pharmacotherapeutic and non-pharmacotherapeutic management of this condition including which drugs should be prescribed when, how these patients should be monitored and importantly which patients should be referred on.
