The recent push-back against adult use of PPIs looks like it should include children with research showing they pose a significant asthma risk in the paediatric population.
According to a Swedish cohort study recently published in JAMA Pediatrics (1), children who are initiated on a proton pump inhibitor have a 57% increased risk of developing asthma.
