New findings cast doubt on the widely-held belief that a high intake of fish protects against future heart disease in healthy people.
According to a meta-analysis, recently published in JAMA Internal Medicine (1), eating at least twice a week only reduces the risk of a major cardiovascular event in people with pre-existing heart disease. In healthy people, there was no association found between fish intake and major cardiovascular disease or mortality.
