Vitamins worthwhile in boosting respiratory immunity
Taking vitamins A, E and D helps protect against respiratory complaints, according to new UK research.
According to an analysis of data from a large ongoing cross-sectional study, there is strong evidence of an inverse association between intake of vitamin A and vitamin E from diet and supplements with the self-reported prevalence of respiratory complaints.
The study, published in the peer-reviewed journal, BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health showed a similar association for vitamin D but only for supplements not diet.
The fact that only vitamin D supplements appeared protective and not dietary vitamin D was a point of note for the study authors.
