For women, the effects of domestic violence last long after they have escaped from the destructive, dangerous relationship, Australian research shows.
According to findings from the Australian Longitudinal Study of Women’s Health, elderly women with a history of intimate partner violence consistently score more poorly in psychological wellbeing assessments than women without such a history. They are also more likely to be depressed (OR 1.36).
